I have been considering Goodyear Wrangler MTR's for my 99 250 SD. I am in snow and mud country hear in Co. Anybody run these tires before with much luck? My truck is leveled and I would like to squeeze 34's on it (295/305), any luck here?
Have a blessed Christmas
Of course for snow you should get a dedicated snow tire if you want to have the best. You can get some others like the revo's They are supposed to be good all around. I use the blizzaks for snow. Can't comment on others.
Don't know about Wranglers but I used to have BFG Mud Terrains on my old 73 F250 4x4. They worked great in snow, but when it came to ice, well, without any siping, there wasn't enough edge traction to do very good. I agree with 99f350sd when he said that it is better to have a tire specifically for snow and ice when practical, and summer tires for your summer uses ie. mud. If you don't want to mess with changing tires with the seasons, then I suppose you need to establish your priorities and select an aggressive traction tire that leans toward what your priority is. The other will just need to be somewhat moderately sacraficed.

I ran GY MTR's on my old 95 Ranger, unstoppable in mud and deep snow, but terrible on ice and in rain. With my 2004 SD, I am sticking to highway/AT tires for standard use, but I currently have Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted for winter weather. So far I am very happy with the Blizzaks. Philip.
Tall and Skinny. Studded or Soft Sticky Rubber. Various brands out there. I have Chapperal studded. On the truck 8-months out of the year. Summer tires should last 10+ years at this rate. Have, forgive the spelling, yakahomma studded on the subaru. Man that thing is excellent on snowy-icy roads. Havent seen much of the soft sticky rubber tires up here yet. Probley due to the shorter life milage.
