Engine Dress up?
i hope im posting this in the right fourm, if not im sorry and ill understand for next time
anyways heres my question. im not too sure if i will swap out the 300 6 out of my ford yet or wheter to put a 4 barrel on. but i was wondering how can i go about repainting the parts, ect to make it look a lot nicer. right now it's rusted up and really looks bad. just something to kill time with

It really depends on just how much time you do have & want to spend on your engine:
You can take all the accessories off (alt.p/s pump,a/c comp.ect) and clean & paint them, remove the valve cover & clean & paint that & re-install with a nice fresh gasket, same for the air cleaner housing.
While everything is off you can clean & paint the block & head, taking care to mask off motor mounts, exhaust manafold, stuff like that,so it won't look like you just opened the hood & started spraying.
May be fresh belts & hoses as you finish up, may be even remove the radiator & clean & paint that???
Hope this helps, just remember one thing: the more time you spend cleaning & prepping the better quality job you'll do in the end.

One thing I can say is "CHROME". The rest of the engine can be rusty as heck, but if you got a chrome valve-cover and air cleaner, it'll be alright. I know.... My '64 F-100's 351M has chrome and rust, but people still say how cool the engine looks.
