First off NIVKNACK, welcome to the forum. With respect to non-Ford engines in our trucks, ***** has pointed out the written rules for FTE. Because of the age of our trucks and the difficulty in finding both information and parts, I've allowed discussions of how to make various non-Ford engines fit in our trucks. So long as the discussion is restricted to that aspect of using a non-Ford engine, I see no problem.

Please refrain from any sort of "brand X engines kick the snot out of brand Y engines". Discussions of internal workings, performance modifications, or electronics associated with non-Ford engines are also not allowed.

Good-natured ribbing about engine choice if part of the comraderie of the forum, however, I won't tolerate inappropriate negative comments on this subject. All forum members deserve our respect so long as they follow the guidelines above.

NIVKNACK, it sounds like you are looking for information on getting the engine to fit, mounts, etc. That's fine. You may not get a lot of responses because there just isn't as much experience with GM products here on the board. You are still very much welcome on the board, and I hope you continue to participate as you are an owner of one of our beloved old Ford trucks - regardless of your engine choice. You may have questions on other parts of your truck that the crew will be glad to help with. And yes, you will likely take some good-natured ribbing about the engine.

For a moment i felt like my dog had done his business in the president of the homeowners associations front yard. I probably didn't read the agreement as well as i should have. Bad habit....my wife said i didn't read the marriage contract very well either...Funny but my puritan loyalty went south when i broke a rod recently in my stock y block. Advice i got from this forum before it blew to help get more horses was to use it as a boat anchor. If you've got a spare 429 lying around to donate i'll be happy to bleed blue if not i'll go with what i've got and find a b###### forum.

NIVKNACK,

Don't be turned off by the rough treatment, this really is a great forum filled with cool people. Some people take their brand loyalties pretty seriously but most of the time this is a good natured bunch that enjoysgood natured ribbing, and the occasional technical debate. We all love the old trucks!

Now that the doggy droppings are picked up you'll be ok.

Take some pics of your beast and set up a gallery, then we can really pick you apart (just kidding!!)

I'm running and alternative powerplant also...I stuffed 500ci of Caddy power under the hood of my 49 and it seems like most of the guys here tolerate me.

Get some pics
Bobby

I hear that. I have gotten to where I over look that. Those of us who have "alternate" power plants get picked on from time to time, so don't feel alone. As Bobby said, put some pics in your gallery, we all like to see what everyone is working on. I was born around BBC's, so I love them. Again, welcome to the site.
