Question for a UPS driver

I just started thinking today, when I looked at the tracking number on a package, they list it as going out for delivery at something around 1:30 AM, I'm really wondering, what time do UPS drivers start delivering packages and when do they finish for the day? it would seem as though going from 1:30 AM till 6 or 7PM would be kinda rough on a person.

I believe they have shifts just like everyone else. Those are usually check in or out times anyway. Maybe someone loads the trucks for the drivers.....I have no doubt that UPS or FedEx is a 24/7/365 type of business.

Tracking info is great and a wealth of info. When it says out for delivery at 1:30am, it's in the part of system of your route. More so, scanned and in the truck or spotted to be loaded in the package car.

Christmas is hard on most UPS drivers, they have to empty truck out as best as they can. Bringbacks has the boss asking questions, and if too often hard action taken.

I have a excellent UPS driver and try to help with my deliveries as much as possible. Christmas time you will see them out till 8- 10pm on many a nights.

If you are expecting a package, leave a note on where to leave it or a neighbor who will sign for it.

Also a good way to get on the drivers good side, UPS web site you may leave feedback on the driver and thank him for a job well done!

I always request UPS, much better delivery service! My 2cents worth!

I'm not quite sure what the delivery driver's times are, but I know there are many shifts for the loaders and unloaders...basically for throughout the night. When a truck backs in to be loaded, it has a UPC inside that is scanned, and goes into a computer. I believe this is truck no., route no. and maybe even driver info. Then, as each package to be loaded comes down the shute, it is scanned. Now, the computers know that that package is in a certain truck heading for a certain place. That's for the big trailers, and I assume it's the same for the driver's of the delivery trucks. I think they load their own though, so that they know what's where and have it sorted for quicker deliveries.

We have to have any deliveries made to my parent's house 20 miles away, because our address or zip code don't show up on their computer. Guess this qualifies us as a small town, huh? Finally found a pizza place in the next town over that will deliver here, though. Merry Christmas y'all!

Dear UPS drivers,

Ace Ventura was a pretty funny movie but I'm not laughing when you treat my packages like that. Please stop.

It seems 2 out of 3 packages that I receive via UPS arrive in bits and pieces. But maybe they do it because they're angry at having to scan my boxes at 1:30AM.

That isn't the drivers. That is the loader/sorters. Those are nothing more than college kids, and the underemployed. They are payed badly, treated worse, barely recieve any kind of benefits or recongnition for a job well done. What is their reward? A lousy four hours a night, and the promise of a real job once the holiday season is over.
