After reading the post about someones buying experience from one of the sponsors here I was curious as to WHAT the time span is now from Ford on a customer ordered F-150? Is it still 6 weeks+? And does it make a difference if the truck's a flareside model?
First question last: the only items in short supply right now (which would extend production time) are the Harley package, and a certain 17-inch aluminum wheel that they're kinda vague about. Flareside availablilty is the same as a Styleside right now. If you ordered a truck today, it would be built the first or second week in January, with arrival at the dealership about two weeks later. So, we're talking 6 weeks tops, maybe quicker.
Now, that's my time frame for ordering; another dealer, who doesn't have 150 allocation, could take 8-12 weeks to get the same truck.
Ordered middle of Oct, build date is this week. I think it depends on the type, like an f150 or f250. Lots of other unforseeable factor's. Mine's a F150 reg cab xl.
I ordered mine on November 1st. Was to be built last week. No news on delivery date. A Scab Lariat.. Hoping it comes before Jan 3rd to guarentee the present rebates. Not holding my breath though cause of the holidays.
general question. how does ordering your vehicle affect the price you can negotiate? are dealers thrilled to order because it is a sale with 0 days on the lot, or would they charge a premium because they'd rather sell inventory?

Yes, definitely.
It all depends on the dealer. Some only want to sell what they have, others (like myself) prefer that you order, especially when it comes to a Super-Duty. Without even figuring in single or dual-rear-wheel, or chassis-cab models, there are nearly 5,000 different Super-Duty combinations available. How can I POSSIBLY stocj the right trucks with that much variety? By ordering, you're getting exactly the vehicle you want, instead of the one I need to "push off the lot." And you'll be happier, longer with the truck you really wanted in the first place.
I have always ordered my vehicles. I figure that if I'm spending that kind of loot, the vehicle is going to be exactly the way I want it. The dealer, which is my cousin, will sell to anyone at 300 bucks over invoice. I got to think most dealers would sooner take an order than see you go to another dealer to place an order.
