Difference between Pre and Post Turbo Pyrometer

Will a pre turbo temperature gauge do as well in watching engine heat as a post turbo gauge?

Thanks, Ed

pre turbo is what you want......dont do post... the numbers are off usually by 300* or more... you want it as close to the pistons as possible... aluminum melts at 1222*.....

pre turbo will do better, your measuring the egt before it gets to your turbo. This way you know exactly what the temp is so you dont burn your turbo up. Post is fine but your 200 to 300 degrees off. imo pre is the only way to go, some guys who have really built trucks have both pre and post(I dont really know why)
