The Bravada/Blazer/Jimmy will bet getting it first. It's a 4.2L DOHC design, supposed to be making ~250 horses, and will be a member of GM's new engine family, next on the list is an I-5. That's about all I know about it.

I work as a experimental engine assembler for GM. We assemble experamental Line 6 ( that is what we call it)engines to be used for different tests duribility, calibration ect. These engines have there share of problems. We are still trying to work out the problems and they are already into prduction. We are testing a new piston and ring combination. I would suggest waiting befor rushing out and buying one. They will not be very easy to work on exspecialy in a four wheel drive because the front axle goes through the oil pan and if you have any valve train problem, burnt valve, timing chain ect it will be easier to pull the motor out. There is a L5 version comming out in 2004 which is simular but uses duel balance shafts. Also there will be a L4 simular to the L5.
Get the engine details straight from GM's media link at http://media.gm.com and search for "LL8" There are several pages detailing this engine. I found it quite worthwhile.
275hp and 270ft/lbs of torque. From what I've heard, the trucks arn't supposed to get it for awile.

I'd like to know how Ford will respond to this one? Hopefully, if they make an OHC inline six it won't have rubber band cam drive. Sounds like Ford will have a while to put theirs together, though, as they watch bug after bug screw up GM inline six trucks.
