I am tring to get the fuel/water separator out to change the o ring at the fuel heater. I have read the artical form steve baz and still am missing something. I am fairly new at doing my own wrench turning and new to diesels so some of the things he was talking about i didnt know what they were. I have taken the fpr loose and 1 hose loose from the rear of the fuel/water separator anf 1 loose from the left hand side looking in from the front. It still feels like it is attached to something. i just dont want to break something in the name of fixing something else. The truck is a 97 psd if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.
I found it. finally got the fuel separator off and found what looks like a sensor has gotton hot and melted. the oring is ok just the piece the oring is around is burnt. any ideas as to what this is?
yes that is the one. It looks like a watch battery. It has melted the seal around it and was pooring fuel onto the engine. So this is the fuel heater? I cant find it at the local parts houses so i am going to have to wait till monday and check at the ford dealer and the international dealer and comapre price. Any one know what price range i am looking at for the fuel heater? On a bright note, at least i have a spare oring incase the new goes out, lol.
