Is it time to come back?

Last Feb I traded in my 00 XLT 4.6 for a car. I was tired of the road noise and lack of hp. After about a month my car started feeling small inside (I'm 6'4"). On test drives I seem to fit into anything comfortably . Now I'm thinking I need another large SUV and of course the Expy is at the top of my list. I'm thinking of an EB or Limited so here are some questions. Road and wind noise of an 05/06 versus the pre 03 models. Are cooled seats as great a thing as I think they are? With 300hp versus 210 in my 00 I'm confident that won't be a problem for me.

i ve had 3 navigators now, the '03 being the best, road noise wise much improved over the '98, and '01. the '03 i had undercoated. i havent driven the new expy. i always found the navi just a bit cheaper on the 3 year lease than a expy so i ve stuck with that. depends greatly also on type of tires you had on the 00 xlt. cooled seats are neat, but the heated part is a bit disappointing being it s always turning off. dealer said this is normal. heat/cool seats seem to use heat pump type system, alittle fan noise, but not noticable with radio on. good luck !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. The idea of cooled seats in Texas is very appealing. I just was wondering if they work as well as I'm envisioning.

i d say on a scale of 1-10, the cooling portion part of the climate seats are a 7 +.

being in new jersey with 25% tint on driver and passenger windows, and tint on the windshield, not much sun get s in my navi, so i rarely ever used the cooling option. even being it s a black interior.

All my research, plus listening to my wife seems to point to getting another expy. I would like to get more opinions on the sound levels inside of the newer versus older ones.

My 99 XLT is really quiet, I don't understand why you have so much noise.

It was a lot of tire noise. They were good tires also. I like it to be silent inside except for my SIRIUS Big 80's

I have an 03 and shes quiet as a mouse. Little to no road noise at all. Stereo helps too but when its off its still really good on not much road noise if any noticeable at all.

Welcome back to the Expy

Welcome back to the Expy

03 was the new style so I was hoping someone with an 03 or later would chime in.

P.S. What did you do to get exiled to Cannon?

You sure the noise was not the wife? I have that problem sometimes. I have a 05 EB 4x4. There is mirror noise at highway speeds that is annoying that didn't exist on the 98, and overall it seems noisier than the 98. The HP upgrade and suspension make it easier to deal with though.

Keep it down will ya?

I am the proud owner of an 05 eb expy. I had a 97 and then moved to the 05. We spend lots of time using it to take my daughter back and forth to University. My family and I have all commented on how quiet and stable this one rides in comparison. WE REALLY ENJOY the new ride.. it is awesome. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping someone who has owned both older and newer styles would chime in. I've read that the interior is really nice on the newer ones. I thought the interior of the 2000's were nice.

Glad to hear the good words about the newer models. I enjoyed my 2000 but I really would need a more refined ride to pull the trigger on another one. Sounds like its what I'm looking for.
