A few years ago, I had a rental 1999 or 2000 Exp Eddie Bauer while mine was in the body shop after an accident. Several differences that I observed with the rental EB were that in the EB the interior noise was much higher than mine which I attributed to the sunroof. The EB did not stop as well as mine which was probably because of the 17 vs 16 " tires. Also gas mileage with the rental was worse than mine which is equipped with 3.31 ratio.
If you do significant off roading which I do, you may want to consider the older models and with the price of gas, I have seen some super bargains on the Expeditions which is somewhat contrary to boats as I am looking for a good saltwater boat under 20', but it seems like everyone else is also downsizing on the boats with the high gas prices.

I don't do any offroading just daily driving on paved roads. I just need the front seat room to fit comfortably. With the price of gas I figure I can get a great bargain on a new 05/06 or a used 05.
We love our 2wd 04 Expy. Great on the highway, kind of a stiff ride around town. The heated and cooled seats work great...especially the seat cooler. We live in GA and I use the cooled seats a lot in the summer. Our expy is loaded: leather, heat/cool seats, power 3rd row, sunroof, XM radio. All of it works well. Only problem so far was a faulty starter motor that left me stranded in my driveway one day. Team Ford in Marietta, GA has been great to deal with. The engine is a 4.6 and I have added the K&N FIPK which works well. A little extra noise in the upper rpm's but the engine is a lot perkier around town and the rpm's seem to be slightly lower at highway speeds. I don't tow so I didn't see the need for the big engine...no choice now. I'm looking foward to the v6 turbodiesel that will hopefully be available soon. Good luck!
I have an 05 EB with the heated/cooled seats. It is a nice feature but not really that great. You really don't notice the cooling in the seats until 5-10 minutes after you turn them on. On a hot day, the interier of the car will cool off with the A/C long before the seats get cool. Same with heating. I can have my interier toasty before I feel the heat in the seats.

Thanks for your reply. The length of time for heating and cooling is very interesting. I drive an 04 Passat and the seats are warm within 3 minutes of leaving the garage.
Does everyone else's seats take a long time to heat and/or cool?
