I sanded and scuffed my dash... didnt take it out... anyway. i decided to paint the glove box cover first, i took it off and it was already sanded. It was nice and smooth. When i went to paint it some parts wouldnt get covered up, they were like little marks.. many of them, the paint i got is for the outside of the truck, do you think this might have anything to do with it. I am going to go to a hardware store and get a regurlar spray paint closest to the color of the outside of my truck. Soooooo why would it be doing this?

After you sand the item with 220 Grit wet paper.
Did you wipe the item with lacquer thinner to remove finger oil and other bad stuff ?
It has to be perfectly clean you know, otherwise you will end up with fisheye or other imperfections.

Prime coat the piece with *Sandable primer* > sand >then wipe with a tack cloth> Paint in light even coats <

Did you use spray Lacquer Paint?
You should !

i am stupid I didnt even use a primer. But good thing is that all i painted was the glovebox. Im gunna sand and paint every thing tommorow. I am going to prime it first, hopefully it'll look better. Also, what type of paint did u say i should use... and also what type of sandpaper should i use on it, i used 400 grit and the sandpaper would just get too smooth so it wouldnt do anything after a few scapes.

Start with 220 then graduate to 400 >then 800.
Wipe with lacquer thinner to remove finger oil.
prime with a sandable / lacquer friendly primer.
Sand lightly >Then, wipe with Tack cloth > paint in a sweeping motion
light coats, let the paint get tacky between coats.
Then use Lacquer available at any GOOD auto parts store
After you have finished painting, let it cure for a while before doing any work around the painted surface.
In 3-4 months it will be as hard as a rock & Shiny.

TOO BAD the U.S.of A don't have a Canadian Tire stores.
You guys and girls would go nuts and want to sleep there if you did.

I painted it. I used an Auto primer.. Put a few coats of that on it. Then i used a color called wimbelton white.. (if any of you heard of that) It looks very good, but i was wondering if it is going to get harder over the next few days or so. Its dry but if i take my fingernail or screwdriver and tap it it will smoosh the paint down and show the primer... it was doing this about 6 or 8 hours after i painted it... so i was just wondering how long its going to take to fully harden. thanks

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-01 AT 06:57 PM (EST)]

Wimbledon White was used on Mustangs and other Fords.
It's a very Nice white!

I told you about the curing!

Lay it in front of a heat vent in your house for a few days and see what happens. It will only get harder.
If you used Enamel,it will take longer than Lacquer to cure.

*DON'T put is near a light bulb or that kind of heat.
