[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Dec-01 AT 09:38 AM (EST)] Greg, the 360 doesn't really deserve to exsist. The 390 is a much better engine. The reason we have 360s is because Ford had lots of extra cranks and rods laying around for the 352 engine, after they no longer built 352s. SOOO rather than just dump them, Ford cobbled up an new engine using the 352 crank and rods in a 390 block, with flat top 390 4V pistons. And thus the 360 was born. The best thing about a 360 is the ease with which you can build it into a 390 instead. While the 410 is a great engine for trucks, the long (3.984) cranks are getting hard to come by, and exspensive when you do find one. The 360 suffers from a stroke of only 3.50. If you look around and find a 390 crank, any year will work, you will have 3.784 of stroke. The .284 increase will give you a noticable increase in torque all across the rpm range, like 100 lbs-ft or a little more. It will be like night vs day. Ford made 390s from 61 through 79, so finding a crank should be easy. Get the rods as well, you will need those too. Get 390 (66-70)car pistons and you're all set, as far as having the right compression goes. The replacement piston sold for the truck engines has too low of compression. I would pay close attention to keeping the oil full, maybe even think about a better pan. If you were climbing a steep hill and the oil pump sucked a little air, you could be in trouble in a hurry. DF
