This is nearly the same as Pablo-UA's question but specific to a '95.
A friend has told me about a '95 shorty for sale for $1200. Sounds too good to be true. All he did was to walk around it in the rain and then call me. He said the body's in good shape. I assume it's a 3.0 but am not sure.
Before I go to look at it or call the seller, is there anything specific about this year to look out for or ask about?
As I recall from an earlier discussion, the trannie may be sturdier in this than in earlier models, but is not electronic, right?
Ray Mac.
Depending on what part of '95, it could go either way for being electronic. The easiest way to tell is to look at the shift selector. If it has OD D 2 1, then it is an A4LD. If it had D 2 1, then it is a 4r44e electronic tranny.
Really there is nothing different between the years, just check to make sure everything works, check underneath and in the door jams for rust, see if you can get any mechanical history.
To understand what a motor, just look at VIN (U-3.0), or open a hood.
A4LD is electonically controlled too (lock-up, OD are controlled by electric valves), but 1-2, 2-3 shiftings are controlled by "governor". But I've seen A4LD with 4 electric valves at Scorpio 2.9, and I'm not sure, may be this tranny was used at aero too.
