Are you sure about that? The one that came out of my truck has a straight out tube - nothing else.
Try pushing air backwards through the pump. The pump screen is where my pickup always gels first, so I've had it off just about every winter at least once.

I did the same thing. Apparently the screen in the filter is finer mesh than the one in the tank.
.........HS , Is your fuel filter connected TOO the suction side of the stock ford electric fuel Pump ? So , the inlet too the fuel filter is connected directly to the Supply fuel line coming From the tank , and the Outlet from the filter goes Into the Suction side of the fuel pump . I assume then that the stock fuel pump has more than enough Suction to PUll fuel thru the NAPA filter with No reduction In volume to the engine ??? I just want to make sure that I understand your install correctly .
.........Can I take that Baldwin part # and order that bracket thru napa or online somewhere ??? And , what is your estimated cost of adding this setup to a PSD . This IS a Mod I can afford to make to my truck . Thanks to ALL who work hard at providing creative ideas to improve the performance for our trucks . , s.kuteman

Yes, pre-pump on the suction side from the tank. I did the tank pick up mod and deleted the filter in the tank to reduce air. Thus, the need for this filter and water seperator. Some use the Dahl 100 for filtration and entrained air issues, but I've had this in for over a year with absolutely no fuel delivery or injector problems. My regulator fuel filter is spotless whenever I replace it so I know the pre-pump is filtering just fine.
Another member, CLK helped me out. We did the regulated return the same day.
That Baldwin head is commonly used for tranny filtering/coolant filtering assemblies. Be sure to get the 1/2 NPT on both ends though and get reducers as needed. Had the hoses removed as far as possible and had the hard line bent and run before and after the filter.
I fabbed the bracket in about 20 minutes. Existing holes in the frame. Just bent a piece of flat stock and drilled the holes for the filter head. Blted it up.
As always Dan, excellent work.
You're going to have to start keeping track of the changes in your mule with soybeans in her. I'm guessing that you have a metal saddle tank? I know the one in the bed is. Rust from which one ya think?
So, in hindsight, anyone switching to bio should expect good things to happen, although masked as a possible problem. Switch to bio, fuel system gets cleaned out resulting in the problems you had. Remedy, an in-line filter like the one for the tranny after switch-over.
What other changes have you noticed that may or do/will require additional attention if continuing to run bio? More frequent changing of the fuel filter at the engine?
Of course, after the bio cleans everything out, back to normal changing of the filters and she runs MUCH better and lasts longer....
Thank you Steve.
I need to update on something. I went out to start the truck on a freezing morning and the fuel pump sounded like it was cavitating badly. I am pretty sure the fuel was gelled a little due to the aprox B-50 mix in the tank. I shut it off and waited until the sun came out and warmed things up some. Then it was quiet. I think that the little square filter that I mounted in front of the fuel pump is way undersized and I am working on getting a setup like HeatStroked.
So if any of you are considering this mod, go that route. The little filter is too small.
Having no check valve in your fuel system will allow the suction line to drain down as soon as you key off. The pump may have problems priming on the thicker cold fuel in the winter.

I thought about that after I saw the check valve in the old pump. And now the one that I have is removed. Hmmm. Well, I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.
