Figured out why my truck seems so flat when I put in any more than Tow/Haul. The fuel pressure is good at 66 psi at idle. As soon as I give it some throttle it drops off about 20 lb. Looks like a new fuel pump is in order.
Sorry to hear your truck isn't running too well right now. Do you think the FPR shim had anything to do with it? I'm thinking about getting one, but after hearing about this fuel pump problem, I'm thinking twice.
Oriface is out of the picture for this test. I'm measuring the pressure through the oriface so there is no bleed off right now. All the fuel goes through the injectors. Pressure still drops. One thing that confirms my diagnosis is the power loss is less pronounced right now.
Recommendations? I really don't want that puny stocker at all. Been too busy at work to even think about the truck at all. Now it's nearly 6:00 pm and I am sitting at my desk and my head is still reeling from the VERY busy day I've had. I am considering a Bosch pump for a Vanagon. They have a 12mm inlet and last for 20 years. If needed, two of them in parallel, powered by a load reduction relay so I don't overload the truck's wiring. But I am wide open for suggestion right now as long as it's not wildly expensive.
