Wont accelerate right! please help!

I have this in the FE engine forom also. I have a 68 f100 360cid. I got a tune up from my step dads friend he came over and did it all for me. He put new spark plugs, wires, and rotors. He did it around noon, then later on that night i drove it around for about 2 hours. Then the next morning it started great and idled great.... but then after about 10 minutes it started to chug very badly when i gave it gas. I put it in neutral and tried to rev... but nothing it would chug very hard.... also some loud pings in the engine everyonce in a while... anyone know what htis would be.. the timing.. Please help, thanks

Wont accelerate right! please help!

Just checked to see if the choke was the problem. The choke is working fine. It worked good when i started it this morning for about 10 minutes. Then it just got to the point where i couldnt hardly accelerate. It would chug every time i tried to give it gas. I went and got a new fuel filter but advance auto parts gave me the wrong one. Any other suggestions why the heck its doing this?

Don't know if I can be of any help but I had a problem that sounds somewhat like yours. I purchased a 1975 F100 that hadn't been driven for quite a while so I replaced the plugs, plug wires, and distributer cap right off the bat because it was evident that they were in bad shape. After doing this, my truck ran worse than it did with the old stuff on it. After doing a little looking around I discovered that I had 2 dead cylinders. I seemed to be getting a spark from my plug wires and since I just replaced much of the ignition system I didn't think that was the culprit. Turns out I got a bad distributer cap right out of the box. Although I was getting a spark it was a weak spark not able to fully ignite the gas mixture. I replaced the cap with another new one and my problems were gone. From my experience, I would advise you to check your ignition components first. Make sure all of your plug wires are securely attached to the plugs etc...

Chris, I suspect the points have closed up. Pull the dist. cap and turn the engine until the points are over the lobe and open. You should be able to slide a paper match book cover in the opening.
