2002 PSD just installed superchip few questions
Hi this is my first time posting in the 99 to 2003 7.3 diesel forum I am long time user and reader of this site but usually in another forum being the 80 to 86 F-series trucks hence my user ID. But I recently sold those trucks off and got the real truck i was after a 2002 7.3 super cab short bed 4x4 with the offroad package a small lift and the 35's I just added. I have owned the truck about 2 months now and I have already added a dynomax cat back exhaust system. My truck didnt have a cat from factory so I felt that the 4 inch cat back system for now would be good enough mostly for the sound improvement. My question is I got a superchips tuner for the truck and I have set it at the tow/perf setting not towing 6000 pounds setting its the second setting out of the 3 I dont do any towing with the truck so I am wondering is this safe to run on the truck even though I dont have an air intake yet? also I have been reading a lot about the "kwik" air filter set up with the napa filter can I put this set up on my truck without any real modifcations? also what are your opions on this super chip? I got it from a guy who has a PSD who traded me it and a few hundred dollars for the 4wd beater 84 F250 I have cause at the time didnt have the extra money for the truck so I said well give me the tuner and show me how it works. That was my plan from the get go but I was just waiting to get some funds for it anyways any info on this subject would be greatly apperciated. I have already learned so much from just reading post from other users on this forum this web site is great its one of the main reason I got a 7.3 and not a 6.0 thanks Steven

and keep your tuner to the lower settings until u have, minimal,an EGT gauge. The Kwik mod (fleetfilter.com has 46637 cheap)is a fairly easy install from what i hear. Don't trust that stock airbox it's been known to leak.

Yes ..... Get Some Gauges ( Especially A Pyro )
I Would Also Consider Getting A Bigger Exaust ( 4'' Is Enough ) The Bigger Exaust Will Keep Your Egt's Down When Towing And Getting On It.
Might As Well Get The Bigger Air Intake While Your At It ( Cheap Enough )
Also , The More You Read In This Forum, The More Mods You Will Learn About And Want To Try.
However... Gauges Are A Must When Using A Chip Or A Tuner.
Good Luck To You
