i was wondering if anybody has tryed the sct . i have a couple of questions . how good is it ,is it easy to use ,what can you do with it .can you use it with the edge attitude monitor?
It's an excellent tuner. Yess you can stack it with the edge (edge needs it for tranny protection) and I guess you want the edge for the gauge capability. SCT of itself will outperform the edge by a bunch. 13's with stock intake and modded exhaust if you get the right person to program it for you, and EGT's VERY safe.
yes i want the attitude for the gauge capability .so the sct is really hard to program or you can do it your self .
piece of cake, just make sure you get it from a known company like innovative. with trans only tunes, and even a extreme race tune.
but dont stack the race with the edge other wise bad things happen. once you try the race tune you will never go back to the edge.
YOU don't write the programs for the SCT,
(UNLESS you buy the full blown distributor type programs)
Most "purchasers" tell the tuner you buy your XCl2 from
what type features you want and they can program it for you...
You won't want/need any other tuners/programmers etc...
the torque convertor lockup alone so you can accelerate without downshifting is worth the price of admission !!!
so let me get it straight when you buy the sct you can ask what you want on the tuner but thats only if you buy it from like a place were you order it or some thing right .but if i go to a store they have then programed there already .the torque converter lockup is one of the features the sct has ? i need gauges what would you recomend for that, is the attitude a good one to stack up with the sct .
Ditch the Edge. There is obviously a reason you are looking at the SCT. Get a set of analog gauges. There are 2 XCal's that you can purchase. One has generic SCT programs on it and the other is loaded with custom tunes. I am told the price difference is slim so you would be crazy to not get it tuned specifically like you want. I believe Motorhaven (here sells the generic one). If you want custom you will want to check out various vendors and perhaps check out the other site (email me if you need a link) as most of the tuners are over there and a lot of users to get feedback. The tuners can do a lot of different things for these trucks, all you have to do is give them your PCM code and a little time and patients to get all the bugs worked out so it runs just like you like. Personally I have tried a few and have settled with DJ's Looney Tunes. (website redesign is in the works)

Nice to see you back John...
That comment leads me to believe you might be using one yourself?
Do you really think that the SCT can outperform the Edge/Attittude combo? I am running both and while the sct tranny tunes help alot, the edge/attitude seems to outpull it by a long shot. Mine came from Motorhaven, are other tunes that much more powerful? The Edge/Attitiude does create some instantly high EGT's (no aftermarket exhaust). I have always wondered if higher power can be attained without the extreme EGT's.

Hi there Matt & Tim...
Yep, even though it had THAT name in it, I still went for it and have been pleased....
It ALL depends on whether or not the tuner you purchase from knows what he's doing...
We discovered that the person a few of us bought ours from was a misrepresenting crook
(who is now out of business and heard mail fraud is a definite possibility )
but have since found people that are working with me getting it tuned for the 05...
down to 8.9 @ 74 in the 1/8th for the heavy beast and think more is in it
Just like ANY software program (or programmer ),
some are better than others...

Like CB said, you can get a SCT XCal2 from anybody and it will have 3 tunes pre-programmed for your truck in it from SCT. They are good tunes, and you can change things like tire size, TC lockup, etc. But, the tuners out there that sell custom tunes for the XCAL2 don't charge that much for the work. If you have aftermarket exhaust and/or intake, it would be worth your money to have a custom tune made! They will let you go as mild or as WILD as you want...

We can get you in an Innovative Diesel custome tune. The SCT is a great tune, and most "average" guys would not be able to tell one from the other, but the Innovative adds the custom tuning for convertor lock, EGR disable, shift points, shift firmness. You tell us what your looking for and we have it programmed specific to your needs. You need exhaust braking added to your tow safe mode? No problem. The Innovative Diesel SCT2 is a great way to go. I always recomend guages including an EGT guage, or a Bullydog Outlook Monitor. The bullydog is "relatively" inexpensive and covers the needs of a diesel truck very nicely.
