XM here. I got the MiFi, which is a stand-alone unit. I didn't like the options with Sirius or the other Delphi units. I was not going to fork out $50/car just to be able to listen in my other vehicles. Nor was the option of no radio in the other vehicles a choice. Nor having to spend $$$ to be able to listen outside of the truck - special boom boxes, cradles etc.
The MiFi has a built in antenna and a clip-on one so I can carry it around with me. The magnetic car antenna picks up well along with the home antenna. With a FM transmitter inside the unit I can take it from house to any car out there. The unit receives the XM signal and transmits to the vehicles antenna. Other options include using the vehicles radio inputs (if available) or the cassette port.
I have had no problems with reception on the road. I drive plenty of back roads and blockage from trees has not occurred. Of course it is winter. We'll see how things go next spring.
As far as music choices XM and Sirius are the same. The difference lies in specialty areas like NASCAR and such.
Initially I had some questions and found the service department responsive - no long holds on the phone. Also XM supposedly has the most powerful satellites.
