The main difference here is that yours has a D in the third position of the first group, in that case it means it was originally designed for the Falcon. Doesn't mean that's what it came in though...just the way Ford does it.
When it comes to increasing the power, it really depends on your goals and your budget. Trucks need torque, and they need it down low in the RPM range so you have to choose a cam accordingly. Likewise, a dual-plane intake made to work from idle to about 4500-5000 is better than an open plenum, and long tube headers will all work together to keep your power where you want it.
Are aftermarket heads in the budget? There are good iron heads to be found or you could step up to aluminum. Converting to EFI isn't as hard as it sounds either, there are wiring kits available that make it do-able.
Don't forget the ignition. There are so many decent aftermarket ignitions on the market that I hate to recommend one in particular, but the D.U.I. ignotion is a simple one-wire hookup, if you can stand the thought of having what's basically a Chevy distributor in your Ford!
Of course, there are also stroker kits available...
These are just some basics to get you thinking, and maybe bring up some other questions for us. Some of the other guys will surely stop by with some further advice and recommendations, among which will most certainly be stepping up to a 351W. That's something else to consider. Some of us are die-hard 289-302 guys and some will accept nothing less than a 351W. I get the feeling that this is an engine that you've come across and are set on using for your project, so it's really up to you. Whatever you decide, we're here to help!
