Manual Hubs
Hi there. Now that I switched my auto hubs to manual (Warn), I was wondering if it is OK to keep my hubs locked in when I do not need 4wd. I drive about 20 kms a day on pavement and 10 kms on snow covered gravel. I have heard different opinions on this subject. (97 turbo diesel)

I have had manuals on my 95 since I ordered it new. You can leave them locked up all the time for stuff like that or at least I would. Just keep in mind that real tight hard turns your going to feel her act like she is braking or crab angling. She gets to bucking as you turn real hard. Then also keep the highway speeds down lower. I run mine like this and stay at 65 or less be be safe. Just what I have done over the years with mine and this truck has been the best one of many I have ever had...

i lock mine in and leave them most of the winter. unless dry highway for a long time, and then only for fuel mileage. i drive as fast as i want with them and also put it in 4wd at highway speeds when snow covers the road with no problems.

I leave mine unlocked most of the time, but I live in a warm climate. When I go up north I lock them in and leave them locked. The only thing it hurts is the fuel economy.
You should lock them in for a day at least once a month to keep everything up front properly lubricated.
