anybody good with computers?
I am currently typing this on a DELL with wndows ME. I go onto other sites like www.fye.com for my music and my own site (see signature), and they all load with in a reasonable amount of time; (4 sec). But when I come on here, it takes forever to load. Sometimes it stops and I have to hit the go button. The computer is about three years old and I was wondering if there may be something seriously wrong with it. We're gonna wipe the drive when we transfer music, photos, etc., but will that help? Thanks

If sites like Google are loading ok, I'd say there is a slow server between you and FTE - and it could be anywhere...... If others take a long time to load, look further at your machine. Just a start .....

It has always loaded slow for me in comparison to others. Before it was with a eMachine 600 Win98se with dialup. Right now, I have a HP 504 WinXP 2 gig and still on dialup. Alittle faster but still loads slow sometimes depending on time of night or day.
This is not the only site, I go to, that does that though. I can count on four others to be slow no matter what I use.
Different reasons could cause this but not necessarily your computer....even if it's three years old.

so is it always slower? i guess it doens't make much sence why it would be that much slowr, sometimes my favorite sites are slower but not always. fte usually does pretty good on my computer but then again i have cable modem

I got dial up and we had it down to Best Buy geek squad and they said we picked up a bug somewhere. They got it to run again as it did not run at all with the bug. We don't get that dsl out here so I have to take dial up.

Part of it is that FTE is ad supported. The ad servers are slow, and have low bandwidth. They are what slows down FTE. If you join CLubFTE you will get ad free access, and it will be much faster.

Sorry Mil1ion, I'm the worst when it comes to computers. The only computers I really know anything about are the ones in vehicles. And even there I have a little trouble. All I know is that we are going to delete everything and then put the internet back in. I know FTE is massive compared to sites like my 4x4191 site, but this thing is almost unbearable.
