whenever you get any of these update your account messages, foward it to spoof@ whoever it is .com. they DO investigate every scam email.
when i get them from banks, i instantly give then all my account info, and passwords. sooner or later one of these scuzballs is gonna try to use the info i send them, and get busted. i don't even have dealings with the banks. i just makeup numbers and passwords
I don't like the way this thread is worded "Paypal scam", it is not a Paypal scam, it is a scam against Paypal customers. Whenever there is money floating around in cyberspace, there is going to be someone out there trying to fetch it!
After being the victim of identity theft a couple of years ago, I ask the local fraud detective about paypal. His response was "Only an idiot would give that much information to an unregulated bank!" I then ask how about opening an account just to use for paypal. His response was " ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD THAT MUCH INFORMATION TO AN UNREGULATED BANK!" He offered to repeat it even louder if I did not understand the terms "idiot" or "unregulated bank". I said no thanks, I think I got it. What I have found since then is that i don't need paypal anyway. If you think it is too much trouble to go get a money order, try the trouble identity theft will cause you. Thanks, Lyman.
It does seem to me like a money order would work ok, but then what does a guy do when the ebay seller requires payment by paypal only? I guess you could always look elsewhere for that product!
There is a "spoof "section at paypal which I forward this type of junk to. PP sends a message back indicating that it is fraudulent. This type of fraud is right up there next to those that pry on the elderly (which might be me shortly).
