My wife received 2 e-mails today from "PayPal" stating it was a receipt. Knowing it was a fraud we still opened it and it was a receipt for and $800.00 engine. At the bottom was a link that said, "If you think this is not yours or you did not make this purchase to click here!" and it asked for you Id and Password!
She logged in through her account and guess what? No purchase or notice of purchase by PayPal!
The dirt bags are getting more creative!

P.S. I get 6 to 10 e-mails a day on an alternate e-mail account that has no ties to PayPal or any other account. But my primary e-mail account may get 1 a year!
They've tried something similar on me. I also received an e-mail that looked like it was from my bank, and they wanted to confirm my bank account number with them. I want to give you all some advice, PAYPAL OR YOUR BANK WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER E-MAIL YOU FOR YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER, THEY ALREADY KNOW IT!!!!! If you ever receive an e-mail that you think might be real log onto PayPal or go in person to your bank, and see if they actually need any information.
Anything that you get from Paypal will have your name at the beginning of the message. If it does not, ignor it and send it to spoof@paypal.com. I got this information on the phone from Paypal.
Yeah I got one last month and holding the mouse over but NOT clicking, you will see the address of where it is trying to re-direct you. I emailed PayApl and it is definitely a fraud.
The email does look VERY official.
Whatever you do, DONOT click the link until you are sure where it is going.
Another thing I have noticed about holding the mouseover and looking at the link address. If it is from your bank, Vias, Paypal or anyother company informing you about something it will start with there web address "www.paypal., www.chase., www.walmary." and not with a IP address "162.2.159.150" as I have found most common in the scam e-mails.
Oh, yeah.....been getting these from "paypal", "eBay" and my bank. The first two are asking me to update my accounts or a supposed eBay customer is asking why a product was not sent yet. I dont have a paypal account and we dont do business with eBay.
As for my bank. I do not do business with them online.
I got one a couple of weeks ago supposedly from Amazon dot com. It informed me that someone may have gotten ahold of my credit card info and that I needed to verify my information. I clicked on the link and it took me to a page that looked just like an Amazon page, complete with links that linked to real Amazon pages. Looking at the form I got suspicious sisnce they were asking me for info that I new Amazon already had, and my PIN which Amazon doesn't need. I went to the real Amazon pages and found a fraud alert and info stating that Amazon will never ask you for:
Your social security number or tax identification number
Your credit card number, PIN number, or credit card security code (including "updates" to any of the above)
Your mother's maiden name
Your Amazon.com password
all of which were asked for in the Phishing expidition. They're trying to get info on us at every turn, from all manner of websites. I hate pukebags...!
I received an email from what looked like a paypal page but got suspicious when they asked for my password and bank info. I reported it to Paypal and they said that all emails from them will start out with my name....not dear paypal member.
At Paypal's suggestion, I changed my password.
