Code scanner

Do they sell an OBDI code scanner that is digital so you don't have to count flashes? If so, where would a person get one and does it just plug into the EEC testing port?

Yes they do, check out any auto parts store, or big discount store (ie Wal-Mart.) They run around $30.

Yeah I checked Walmart today, ours do not carry one. I'll try an auto parts store next. Will it be a digital display or still be flashes?

There are both kinds, the digital display will just be a little more. Thats odd that wal mart does not have one, mine has a bunch of them.

some of the smaller WallyWarts don't have all departments maxed out.
watch the auto parts stores sale flyers....scanners-code readers are one of their low ball drag 'em in items

Well we have three Super Wal Marts here. I called to ask if they had one, and the person said they didn't. So more than likely they do, and the person had no idea what I was talking about. Anyhow, I bought one at O'Reilly today, I ponied up the extra cash and bought a digital one so I don't have to dick around with the flashes.

I got one off e-Bay some time back that works on EECIV Fords - pre 1996. Was around $35 with shipping. Plugs into the test port right behind the battery.

Also have a cable for my Actron 9145 that will work with the EEC IV.

Don''t waste your time with crappy Walmart junk. Their price is not lower, or is marginally lower, they have no knowledable experts, by selling auto parts, they are putting real auto parts store out of business, which means they are putting people who might actually know something out of business. Let me relate a story. When we went on a trip to Oregon, we went into a small town that my Dad went to a lot when he was young. We needed to get some groceries, so we went driving around this town looking for a grocery store. We passed about 3 that were vacant buildings. We were also passing lots of other vacant businesses. We finally found a Walmart store. It was doing well. The prices there were exhorbitant, and simple things like bread and milk cost 5 times what they cost here in Utah. This was because Walmart had used low prices as a way to put these other companies out of business, then once they acheived dominance, they upped their prices. In the mean time, this one store probably had about 30 employees, and probably put about 150 people out of work. You can be sure that those employed by Walmart get paid less than they could have made elsewhere. I don't know about you, but I think this is appalling. I see the same thing slowly happening in Utah.

China does NOT allow mass importation of Ford Motor Company vehicles made in the US into China for sale, they have created so many gov. regulations and fees that it is not profitable for Ford to import into China.
The Chinese gov. officials also do not allow free market competion between US companies that will be allowed to build vehicle plants there.
