Rear upper shock mounts.

I am restoring a truck for a friend and am in need of the rear upper shock mount towers. Anybody got any? Any help would be appreciated. The truck is a 78 F-150 4X4.

Thanks,
Chad

Or you can make your own and use some high grade bolts. Might be cheaper but not original.

Those parts are still available from Ford. If you do a search in this forum for rear shock mounts, you should be able to find the part numbers.

My local NAPA says that number is a ford number but they don't match anything. Anybody know if a later year mounts will work? I've looked in the junkyard and they look similar but would require changing to the right style of shock end.

That is an actual part number. Guessing it is Ford. If you call your NAPA store they can look up a price. My local NAPA says $53 or something like that.

I went to the Ford dealership and got the mounts for a 80's f 150. They went right in place and I just had to switch to double hoop shocks.

In 2001, the right mount on my 77 rusted off at the frame like yours did. I went to the local ford dealer and got a brand new one for $38. It was an in stock part and the parts guy said it's the same part as is used on newer model trucks. As stated above, the part number is

D8TZ-18169-A Bracket Rear S

The only hard part about replacing this was grinding off the rivets. I just used grade 8 bolts to mount the new part to the frame.

Ok I got one now that I convinced the parts guy at the local Ford dealer that I was looking for a left rear shock mount and not a left front spring mount. Thanks guys
