does any one know of a company that offers universal 12 inch leafs. im trying to put them on a 97 250, with out all the jazz 'performance shops' give ya. anyone know what else ill need to do the install?
not really sure what you mean by universal, and I dont think there are any that come 12" for your truck. If i remember correctly 85-97 F250/350s are hte same leaf lengths/widths. and the largest Ive been able to find from name-brand companies is 6", and those are far and few between. Your gonna have to go custo-jobby.
you are going to need a lot of stuff... leaves, new draglink, new pan-hard bar (whats the other name for that?), extended brake lines, extended sway bars, and driveshaft extensions.
Try doing a web search for National Spring. They'll custom build lift springs for your truck to your specifications. I don't keep up on the newer stuff but was that the year they went back to a solid axle or is it TTB?
Raw covered pretty much everything else you'll need for the lift. Trac bar is the other name for the panhard bar. I run without one but you'll probably want it with banana springs. You'll also need new shocks and probably new u-bolts depending on the number of leaves in those packs. A drop bracket for e-brake cables or new extended cables will also be needed. Most likely you'll want a drop pitman arm too.
you had the new style 97 f-150, you could get a 97 f-250ld in nbew body style, the hd 97 f-250 was obs....now for fun, go ask for wiper blades for a 97 f-350...chances are youl get them for a 97 f-150
98 all they had was new body style 150 and nbs light 250(techinically, but they started the 99 superduties in january 98)
if he has a 97 F-250 and wants that much, he better ditch the ttb, i would hate to see the drop bracket on that POS. No trac bar on a ttb truck, he would need dropped pitman arm, probably high steer, shocks, drivelines, brake lines and that is about it
e-bay has had 8, 10, and 12 inch leafs lately that they are advertising for fords. the 12 inch ones are running about 450$ for all four. sounds like a pretty goo ddeal to me?
Damn TTB front ends are the devil for a truck if you want to lift it. So if the TTB stays then there's drop brackets and all that mess. It would be a nightmare to align and I doubt a TTB would hold up with the size tire a person would be running with a 12" lift.
yea, not to say if you made brackets that would hold up they would probably have to be solid plates. so they would act like a plow in the mud. brings a whole new meaning to "skidplate"
forgive my ignorance...i just woke up. i cant figure out what the hell ttb means. it is a solid front axle though.
kubota...you just about nailed my whole dilema with customizing anything on my truck in less than a paragraph.
with 12 inches of lift im going to want to run big tires, and this would mean new gears in teh rear, possibly new brakes and possibly a stronger PS pump. maybe i'll just go 6 inches.
im trying to put them on a 97 250, with out all the jazz 'performance shops' give ya
thats not possible... you'll pretty much need everything they suggest, longer shocks, longer brake lines, etc etc
there is a reason they dont offer anything taller than 6" for F250's with the center brackets
if i were you, i would get a D60 front do a shackle reversal and then just get 6" lift springs that'll net you 12" right there! then you just have to worry about the rear
fishy nailed it... go with a dana 60 and 6" springs, this will net you about 8" over stock in F=250 form, then do a shackle reverse up front and shackle flip in the back, both worth about 4" more, tada, 12"
