Had a humbling experience this past weekend, when my buddies '05/350, stock with the exception of a predator set to it's lowest setting. DOUSED me on the highway. This with my 99/350 with an AFE 2nd stage, big head wastegate, 4" turbo back exh. and my SCT Excalibrator set to 100 ponies. Worst of all...............His WIFE was driving. I did KILL him from the get go on the on ramp though. Granted, my 6.5" lift, 37" tires and stock 3.73 gearing worked against me, but I've made real short work of most everyone in my end of town that thought ther car/truck had ballz. Oh well, it was bound to happen! I will say, my Edge Evo. is going back in this weekend. I really feel it gave me a lot more grunt top and bottom.
In a race, empty that is, the 6.0 is pretty tough to beat. I can barely pull away from my buddies, and his is completely stock. But hook us up to a couple of 5k trailers and it's so long pal. He cant touch my 7.3 unless he's empty. On another note, my bro in law has the new Dodge H.O. and that is a force to reckon with.... although, he IS 2 wheel drive........
Sorry *******o, no sister... It is odd though about keeping their value. Almost the only vehicle you can buy and get your money back out or close to it. I bought a 2000 in 2002, crew cab 4wd for about 18k, and was offered 24k for the truck last year. I started to jump up to a newer model, but I am attatched to the jewel and I like the 7.3, so I could not part with her.
Don't feel so bad about not being the first one off the line it's not always a good thing. Had this guy in an all jacked up and modded to the max stroker the other day pull up next to me at the light. Light turned green he lit up his tires and took off. Me, I just sat there because I saw another guy coming across racing the light hauling a flat bed equipment trailer. The guy in the stroker went over the trailer nearly flipped over and blew out two of his tires. It was great the rubber just came flying off his tires when he hit the trailer. If you're going to race do it somewhere you're not going kill yourself our anybody else and watch where your going someone else may already be there.

Just shows how quick things like that can happen. I too have almost had similar situations. Now I wait until I am on a back road before I will mess around. When I was 16 in my 5.0 Mustang I was racing a Honda in town and there was a guy listening to his headphones and he just walked right out into traffic, we almost took him out. At the time, I didn't think about it much, but the older I get the more I think about what might have happened had I been there a second later. Time is funny like that.... Careful out there Ladies and Gentleman

Hahahahaha.
I only laugh because the only injury was LeadFoot's pride.
Here is some more irony, he did this right in front of a Toys R Us. The guy driving the flat bed took off the guy with the stroker rolled into the parking lot and started screaming. He got pissy with me when I asked him if he needed any help or a witness. The Toys R Us song I don't want to grow up was in my head the rest of the day.

Am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious to hear stories of Heavy trucks racing?
I'll bet I could beat you in my 1600cc Acura.
Also, it's certainly possible that the guy who beat you has some mods. Demographicaly speaking, the people who race thier trucks are the smae people who mod them..
Just a thought.
LOL better wake up, diesel performance (racing/ sled pulling) is one of the nations fastest growing "sports"
Also any year of duramax with minor mods is a very noteworthy opponent.

Easy there Fro,
With only those few mods on your truck, I know of 2 "econo" cars around here that will take your pink slip in a minute. Now I do agree these trucks feel invincible, trust me, they are not. They can be made to go really fast, but it takes big bucks to do it.
