Body Lift?

I have a 1977 F-150 4x4 I'm considering putting a 2 to 3 inch body lift for a little extra clearance plus a leveling kit.

My question is.. When putting on a body lift, what all changes need to be made? Shifter or steering linakage changes? Bumper brackets need fabbed to sit up higher? Remove fan shroud? Anything?

LMK.

Thanks,

Kyle

well one of my old 79s had a BL on it when i got it, and where the clutch assy. bolts to the frame they made a spacer for that to raise it up a lil bit. the shifter just isnt so high in the truck anymore. and of course you gotta adjust or remove the fan shroud. but that was about it, it was also a homemade lift kit as well.

Sounds like you're already aware of some of the hitches you can run into with a body lift. Pulling the shroud on the radiator can create some big issues with cooling. You also may need to get longer radiator hoses, gas filler hoses if you don't have the in-cab tank, shifter linkages as previously mentioned (if you have an auto) or shifter levers with a stick. A lot of times you'll need to notch the floor for your t-case shifter with a body lift because it will essentially be moving farther forward and backward at the floor now. Brake lines may have to be lengthened at the master cylinder and the e-brake cable may need some lengthening or adjusting as well. You already know about the bumper brackets. So far as I know there isn't typically any issues with the wiring harnesses but maybe someone else can tell us for sure.

That's all I can think of right now. I think bodylifts are the devil, stuff never seems to fit right afterward.
