I have a 89 f 350 7.3 I've put 2 sets of glow plugs in it in 4 days. I only get about 3-4 starts from them. The glow plugs are on a push button. The gp harness is new.
I notice on eBay a guy selling Wellman dual coil 12V plugs for 57 bucks per 8 pk. http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgillis1947 I got 8 of the spade ended ones as the bullet ended one are not 12V dual coil.
I put one lug on the + battery terminal with two 10 guage wires coming out of it. The two of them are then ran to the input side of the solenoid. My push button is then powered from a spare in the fuse panel and fed to the activation post or whatever you may call it on the solenoid. Then from there my gp harness is attached to the other side of it. I made the glow plug harness to have a seperate 10 guage wire to feed each set of four gp's. I will add that the crappy gp's I kept burning up are wellman brand. Since this was originally posted a couple days ago I purchased a new set of Motorcraft plugs and have driven it a couple days with no problems what so ever and it has been about -10 degrees here. I hate to keep blabbing, but i must ask if anybody knows a good way to keep those crappy bullet style connectors to keep from falling off the top of the gp's. Maybe super glue or something? Thank you guys for your help, I seem to be getting a little further ahead now. Thanks.
Just an after thought - did you use anti-seize on the gps?
As far as the button goes: I think my 90 has the same controller and relay as yours. All I did was disconnect the white wire and run a wire from that terminal to a push button and then to a good ground. All I am doing is completing the ground to make the relay work.
If the connectors are bad you can use crimp connectors instead. I think the blue ones work (not sure about the color). You could try crimping yours a little but you will crack the plastic outside. You can use a double layer of shrink tube over them if they are broken.

Thats the same way i ran my button, also my wts still works. No problems with it,im on my 3rd winter like this.
Yes trike I did use anti-seiz on them. I actually used a seperate solenoid instead of the one that is on the back of the engine. The only thing now is trying to get those connecters to keep from falling off when I'm driving it.
