i just wish ford would dump a small block in a ranger kinda like dodge did. i'd also like to see two more full size doors. i think it would sell like hot-cakes! imagine the endless amounts of trick things you could do then.
Honestly, I think a REAL crew cab (like the Colorado and I think Tundra has it too?) with a small block V8 would indeed sell and make massive amounts of money for Ford.
But I still don't see them doing it. Blind idiots.

What do you think an Explorer SportTrac is? Be careful who you call a blind idiot.
The Colorado and Tundra are bigger trucks than the Ranger. It's not possible to have a "real" Ranger crew cab with a pickup size bed, even the Sport Trac comes up short in that regard. If and when Ford re-designs the Ranger (or replaces it) and uses a bigger chassis (such as the new Explorer), then maybe something can be done about a legitimate crew cab setup.

explorer sport-trac is an explorer with a p/u box. its to yuppyish not rangerish. i want a ranger just how it is now with two more doors, thats all. no luggage rack please!
The real bed with a crew cab is an F250/350, really.
I know someone asked of a F150 SCrew with an 8-foot bed...my answer was the above as well.
I know we all want everything for the Ranger lineup, but full-size won't be one of them. It shouldn't be, either. Nissan made a Fronty Crew Cab with a long bed (6 footer, I think = good idea at the time) and now with the Titan, I think it's gone.
Other then maybe the Sport Trac, none of the other mid-sizes offer a flip of room in the back seat. Really.
Also, with fuel being what it is and Ford not really going off the deep end with their finer details, I don't foresee a v8 Ranger. Maybe ever.
When the Dakota was introduced, Dodge had a full size truck, and they had the Mitsubishi built D-50. The Dakota was the first "Mid Size" truck. It was never the same size as the Ranger.
At the time, every small truck was the size of the Ranger. Now, others have added size, while Ranger is just about the last of the small trucks.
I don't understand why vehicles have to be bloated more and more every generation. Even the Japanese are doing this now. Remember that Ford did this in the 60's and 70's. Remember how small the original Thunderbird was? By 1970, it was as long as a 15 passenger van and just as heavy. Remember the first Mustang? Ever look at a full sized Mustang of the mid 70's?
Maybe Ford has learned a lesson from all their previous bloat. Some vehicles work well because they fit the niche they're designed to fit. If you keep fattening them up like me in a buffet line, they're not going to be the same vehicle, or fit the same niche.
there is a guy that has a gallery of his ranger with two more full size doors. it looks terribly stock as far as the body is concerned. its also good looking with a lift and bigger tires and a cool looking skid-plate. anyway, it looks like it may have been built in another factory outside of the states for other countries but i'm telling you it looks like a factory built 2000. i seen the pics on fte ranger galleries, please take a look and you'll see what i mean.
