Driveshaft Problem
2003 Ranger 4X4 Edge. Driveshaft has clicking noise when first starting out. Goes away at 10 MPH. U-Joints OK. Something loose inside driveshaft near the rear. When you hit it with you hand you can hear something moving inside. Anyone ever hear of this?

I heard a story once about a bunch of wleding rods being found in the door threshold of a mid 70's Ford Thunderbird. When they cut the threshold open to pull out whatever was in there, they found a bundle of welding rods with a note that said, "congratulations, you found the noise". This of course occured in the mid 70's.

Well your best bet is to pull it and see if it still makes the noise outside. If something is inside, once it gets going the centrifugal force pins it to one side and it doesn't move again. So yeah, I bet you have something loose inside. If it comes off and still makes the noise, you're gonna have to cut into it one way or another. Might be kinda fun to see what's inside though.
