Hey, I've heard some good stuff about this SeaFoam stuff. I bough me a can of it the other day and it says it can stop the ping sound, and I want to know where to put it in at, so it can work the best.
Remove the vacuum hose from the power brake booster. Pour half a can of seafoam in a bowl. With the truck running, dip the end of the hose in the bowl. Mine always sputters and dies before it sucks all of it up.
Let the truck sit for 20 - 30 minutes and let it smoke. It should make quite a bit of smoke.
the big round thing attached to the master cylinder on the firewall in front of the steering wheel has a big black hose connected to it. this is the vacuum hose.
you guys may wan't to do a search for seafoam. never seen one person that liked the results. most of the engines don't run right afterwards. be prepared to change your O2 and sparkplugs after the treatment, they will become fouled. seafoam is only 2 things light 20w oil and industrial alcohal.
Ok, to be honest, until I joined this forum, I had never heard of Seafoam. I am not a newbie or anything, I've been turning wrenches for 15+yrs now. What does Seafoam do?
I love the stuff. Seafoam breaks down the carbon deposits inside you intake manifold, and throughout the whole interior of your engine. I have used it for quite a while now and love the results. Never had to replace the plugs or O2 sensor afterwards either.
Best part is, this stuff is electronic safe. You can pull off your throttle body and soak it in seafoam and not worry about ruining your TPS or IAC sensor.

Really? I didn't know that it was sensor safe...
B-12 Chemtool is another alternative to Seafoam if you can't find it and it is also cheaper @ about $3 a can. Wal-Mart carries it. Just ran the whole can through the vaccum hose (on brake booster) I have used seafoam for years with good results also.
Yup. I've never had any problem whatsoever with it messing any sensors up. I even ran it through my 91 ranger with 310,000 miles on it with no problems.
Great stuff. I use it in all my vehicles. It defenently helps the ping and rattle of many parts. Iv'e also heasrd of people using water to fluch out the vacuum system. I think I would use seafoam before I put water into my engine.
When you dip the vacuum hose into1/2 can of Sea Foam, you said it might sputter out and die. Do you start you truck again and let it suck up the rest or what?
And also, after you got it sucked up, do you let it smoke with the engine running or off?
