All you know about my "Diesel in antifreeze" problem. It's worse. I discovered oil in my coolant and coolant in my oil. Sounds like new head gaskets at a minimum. Is there anything else it could be?
why are you still driving it with it not being fixed???? these are very expensive motors to replace
I'm not driving it... Well I drove it home after I found the fuel in the coolant. Parked it then asked my original question. About an hour ago I went out and look at it and decided to check things out and noticed the other problems. I originaly was replacing the water pump when the fuel problem was noticed. There was no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil at that time.
Jimbo I would think if it was a head gasket it would be smok'n white when warmed up and losing coolant.Sounds like something to do with oil cooler to me also .
Last year I ended up wit tons of oilinmy coolant..the top3inches of te resovior were blackand sludgy.. it was terible ..My probelm wasthe oil cooler it self not the orings,,
Nine out of ten times on our trucks if you get oil in the coolant it is the oil cooler..fairly commen..andnot hard to replaec just messy.. j
i have given this more thought............
provided your initial sighting was diesel...
the diesel in the coolant possibly ate through the orings for the oil cooler. but who knows.
if it were me:
replace/ repair oil cooler.....
drain coolant
fill with water/ and a little coolant(to keep cost down)
drive truck
look at degaus bottle for more oil / diesel
if more oil another problem exists
if just diesel then you already know what else needs to be done....
dont forget to drain water after test to avoid more damage...
good luck

Cool. That sounds a whole lot better than a head gasket!
I agree, repalce the cooler.. and run it with water fush it run it with water, flush, again to get the oil out of the system.. dont be alramed if it takes afew weeks for the all the oil to get out of the coolant.. when I did mine I was all bummed when I got the truck realy hot a few weeks later more oil showed up .. but it was just the last of it coming out... Remmbere it is a 22 quart coolant sys.. and 15-40. is sticky stuff!! J
