steering column interchange
The steering column in my 89 F250 4x4 5spd is getting worn out.I have a chance to get a tilt column from a 89 F150 2x4 auto.Can I just take the shift lever off and bolt it in.

Sure, no problem. Same year stuff is generally plug and play. Nice way to add tilt-wheel too. For my 93 F350, I couldn't find a tilt-wheel column in good shape on ebay, or junkyards, so I had to do a ton of research to find that certain year full-size fords had the same "shorty" column... so I have a towncar column in my crewcab now. The wheel is slightly smaller in diameter, but I got used to it fairly quickly. It's also further away from me which I like (i.e. closer to the dash). I have to sit a bit forward as compared to most people because of my back (better braking pressure this way), so I wasn't fond of having the steering column too close.
Anyway, good luck with an easy swap.
