Which would you choose a flip chip or my other choice edge evolution? I have an 02 4x4 c.c. AFE pro guard intake, straight exhaust 18K mod.My wife gave the ok to purchase one.I know you'll say get guages first but I'm not towing anything just a daily driver who's after fuel mileage. The 18k gave me more power but no difference in mileage.I plan to disconnect 18k mod when I decide hopefully with ya'll help on tuner or chip. I average 16mpg now....Thanks in advance..........Rodney
Orezona thanks for that thread, a lot of reading but very helpful. One more question , are there any problems down the road with running the chip compared to not running chip or tuner?
if you do not have gauges, you may fry something (engine/transmission) when you dump into it to see what it can do. it can only take one time. with gauges, you know when to let off. i would also recommend you buy the sonnax valve and tricumulator springs for the transmission if you have an automatic. it will help the transmission handle more power input better.
Well I made up my mind to go with chip, only problem now is I'll have to wait even longer. Sounds like everyone is pretty firm on guages, also how expensive is sonnax and how hard to install. Thanks again Rodney..............
can be found at www.blackclouddiesel.com , it is $50 and is a fairly messy job. lots of ATF if you dont have a drain plug in your pan, which you should do. it is a pretty much straightforward job, i kept pretty clean when i did it.
there are instruction archives here on the net, and if you do get this, PM me and i will give them to you.
