I just bought a TS Performance flip chip and was wondering what the concensus is on using a chip that increases the trans pressures as part of its programming to stiffen the shifts along with the mechanical sonnax shift kit?
What can I expect?
I just ordered it, no communication yet and still have time. I don't know if the vendor can alter the stock programming or not. It has not even been burned yet.
correct. and this can reak havoc on the stock modulator valve, side loading occurs when you add pressure, and dont have the sonnax valve in the modulator, it is machined to tighter specs and will withstand increased line pressure.

To keep the shifts from being too firm, could I remove the stiffer springs and leave the factory springs along with the Sonnax valve? I don't want to twist the driveshaft .....
no, its one strong driveshaft. you have to worry about u-joints LOL
but seriously, call up sonnax or email them, i read in the instructions, they make different firmness springs for customizing the shifts. if you want 1-2-3 to be hard, you can leave the springs in, but shifting to OD.... whatever you want.
i'd say leave them in, and see what you think of it, and if you are scared of ruining something, you can change it.
