you might want to try looking up auto upholstering supplies in the phone book.don't use fabric from a regular fabric store. it's not treated.that much i know.the foam may be o.k.are you going to try to do your own seats? good luck to you...joezee
RUSTY : what do they charge now for a bench seat.my other car is getting raggy.been thinking about it.is it around 250.00 dollars?....the last time i checked it out it was 11 years ago....joezee
I redid the bucket seats on my 65 mustang including new burlaps, new foam and new seat covers. I hand sanded the frames for repainting and had to weld one part that had broken on one of the frames. The bench seat in my truck should be a snap after that. I have to say it was the hardest thing I have undertaken to do so far on the mustang but my seats came out very nice. Upholstery places charge a bundle for doing this stuff.
You should find a local shop in your area. I found a guy here in Houston (through a Ford Dealership referral)that has been in the business 45 years and even had the original seat material in stock. You can't believe how happy I was to see this because my truck is as original as you can get with the exception of a few engine mods. Complete recover cost me $250.
j c whittney has some vinyl covers that look good iam going to order one they cost 135.00.they even come with hog pliers.springs i dont know.good luck.
I am in the process of recovering my bench seat. I saw the ones in JC Whittney, Are you happy with the cover you got. What is your over all rating on the cover? Would you say they are worth it? Before I go and spend the money. Cause the Marth Stuart Collection towels are really bothering me.
When I checked into recovering my stock bench seat it cost $250-$300. I ended up getting a good used seat from a '91 F150 xlt for only $150 from the salvage yard. I think it's the best $150 I've spent yet. Very comfy, it's contoured like two buckets, has a fold-down armrest and still has room for a third person if need be. And it's a 20 minute bolt in swap... Once you've had a seat like this, you'll never want to go back to the old flat springy bench seats.
