Heat Shields
I'm wondering if anyone could tell me where I can pick up a heat shield for my '77 F-250. Do they sell these in parts stores, or do you order them from a catalog? I was looking at my starter yester day, which is only 2 months old and it already looks cooked. Also my headers which are only 3 months old are already completely rusted. I love New England!

Heat Shields
I saw a universal starter heat shield at a local speed equipment shop. It was heat resistant fabric (that silvery stuff) with velcro so you could just wrap it around and fasten it.
If you try and build one yourself, out of sheet metal, be sure to stay well clear of the large cable lug sticking out the side of the starter.
