Exclamation Shock Preference

I'm in the market for new shocks and am wondering what everyone is running. So, which shock would you put on your stock height F250 with the 5.4L? It's used as a daily driver in New England and sees the occassional trail. I've listed the 3 major competitors in the poll. If you have another brand, please post it.

Thanks for the input

I've used Rancho, but I will now stick with the Bil's.

Fat Diesel, any particular reason? Also, which models of each are you using? Thanks for posting

I currently have Bilsteins on my lifted dually, but given that you want a good OEM replacement shock for a truck that only see's the occasional trail, I would probably go with the Rancho 5000. Great all around shock at about half the cost of Bilstein 5100's.

Do they make the Bilstein 5100s for stock height applications?

The Bilstein 5100's are for lifted trucks. Check the link below for a stock height truck.

Also eshocks.com has the Bilsteins for stock height trucks. My son just put a set of Bilsteins on a 2001 Excursion 7.3L PSD 2wd stock height and the ride and handling is great.

So the only bilsteins that will fit on a stock height truck are the blue and yellow heavy duty? Just making sure all this is correct before I place the order. Thanks for the link

In retrospect using the 5100 for a price comparison was a bad idea. Yes the 5100's are only for lifted trucks. You would need the Bilstein Heavy Duty Shocks.
P/N BE5-2815 Front
BE5-2816 Rear
I believe you would still end-up paying a considerable amount more for the Bilstein's over the R5000's though.

I think the 5150's are for lifted trucks. My 5100's (the yellow and blue ones) are stock replacement sized. Got them at Autozone with a lifetime warranty.

To anyone who is checking "Other" as an option, what is your preference? I'm open to all brands, just curious as to which gives the best ride.

I put some Monroe Reflex on the front and have been pretty happy with them.

Steve thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check again, but I think that link that kab posted earlier leads to the correct shocks for 4x4. I do appreciate the concern as I'm not fond of $250 mistakes
As for which brand, I'm still up in the air, but I'll probably end up with the bilsteins, I've heard nothing but good things about them. I wont be ordering them for another week or two, as I'm at school until mid december, so hopefully winter break will get my truck back the way it should be.
Keep the suggestions coming, please!

Arrow 20.xx less

Hey Cuda,

Looked up both website posted in this thread and the price is something like $259.xx. My suggestion is go with eBay and pay $20.xx less with free shipping. Item number: 8016992814

I just purchased a set from them...and love the service and the Bilstein shocks are great! The install went on my Fathers 2001 SD 4x4 5.4L CC SWB. Likes the ride over the oem shocks for sure. Will be placing an order for my 2003 SD SC 4x4 SWB V10 after the holidays.

Good luck and enjoy!
