Been Awhile...
I just had to post because on the way to pick up said trail bike, one of the mufflers (which was carefully wired to the header) finally did me a favor and fell off on the highway! D'oh!
So I sold my old dirtbike and finally was able to put on the Flowmaster exhaust you guys recommended. HOLY DOG *****!!!
It's awesome! Now, remember, if you will that when I bought the truck it had roadkill mufflers wired to both headers and that was it! It was kinda loud, but not obnoxious. Then when the one mufler decided to return to the roadkill pile, it was REALLY LOUD! Sounded like an old WW I Biplane.
With both the original and the biplane setup I was afraid to go over 60 mph because the sound was making me think the engine was gonna blow!
Now with the flowmasters (40s) it is faster, smoother and much more useable! Thank you for the suggestions!!! It's like a whole new truck.
I had them run both pipes in front of the right rear tire. This saved them the trouble of messing with mounting near gas tanks. The system from the header pipes to the chrome tips was about $330. This after Midas quoted me about $600 for a Ravin' system! Yikes!
I've got some new questions, but I'll post them separately.
Thanks again for letting me know about Flowmaster!
