My '05 F350 came with the 60F Advanced Security Group option... What exactly does this mean? The truck was stolen three weeks ago - less than 10K miles!
Anyone with information about the so-called Advanced Security please speak up. Are there any recommendations on better protection for my other trucks and for the '06 that's on the way?
Advanced Security Group has nothing to do with the vehicles security. More like your security so you don't trip and fall and you can see inside the vehicle when you get in. It simply unlocks/locks the doors, turns on the dome light, headlights, and has a panic button that honks the horn if you press it. SD's have no vehicle security features, such as a security sytem that monitors the doors, etc., or PATS (chipped key). Get yourself a nice alarm that will page you via the key fob and also has some type of starter kill. I recommend any of the DEI models(Viper,Clifford), Astroflex, Or Compustar. I would also pick up a set of Jimmi Jammer's for your doors.

Thank you for this bit of info., I am wondering though, when I unlock my '05 Lariat, the dome light comes on, parking lights blink(I think), but no headlights. Is this standard procedure, or shouldn't the headlights come on as well? Also, on a side note, reading through the owner's manual, I found that the delay time for the headlights to turn off can be increased w/ a few simple moves of the switch+ignition...... BUT, following the manual's instructions, I can't seem to get it to work? Any helpful hints? Anyone....? tyvm in advance.
big ride- The headlights are not part of the remote keyless entry, they are controlled by the Autolamps. So they shouldn't come on when you lock/unlock using the RKE. When you're trying to program the time on for the autolamps make sure that you start the procedure with the key in the "Off" position. Technically there are 5 positions on the ignition switch. Accessory, lock, off, run, and start. The default position of the ignition switch(where you can put the key in and take it out) is position 2(lock). Position 1 is down one click(accessory). Position 3(off) is one click up from position 2. Up one from position 3 is 4(run), and then 5(start). It may be that you were starting the procedure from the "Lock" position.
Or with a lariet 2005 you can just program the autolights with the trip computer, press the setup button until autolights section comes up and select from 0 sec - 180 sec.
<ME font right!< the on Chris left,>Oh thank you thank you Chris! btw....... this is me, meeting you and shaking your hand ^^^^^^^^ for the help you passed along. On a side note, I saw in some other posts here pertaining info on the marinco mod., and was directed to look at your gallery. Following instructions, I did, and I must say it looks nice, so nice.... that I picked one of these jewels up at Bass Pro for 12 dollars. My question to you Chris is as follows, did u mount yours w/ the '3 screw method', or did u utilize the '1 1/4" locknut on the back method'? Am curious, before I go to drilling. hehe Sorry to hijack the thread, figured this was my chance to thank and at the same time approach Chris on this subject.
