Cool Security for the "Advanced Security Group"?

I have just ordered my '05 F350 and find that the ASG (Advanced Security Group) has nothing to do with theft security... go figure! Has anyone found an alarm that will work with the factory remotes and keypad? I would have ordered it without it as I find the keypad a tacky feature... but that's not an option. The only thing I have found is LoJack offers a addon alarm for their base unit that will/could use the factory remotes.

Don't feel bad, they will steal them anywhere, even in the country.

Hi Mikjeski,

My '04 had a Lo-Jack system installed by the dealer, as well as an integrated Audiovox premium alarm system. The alarm system works flawlessly with the factory remote key fobs and the door touchpad. I highly recommend this system....

The part # for a ford factory alarm for a 2005 is 2W7Z-19A361-DA I know this for a fact since I just put one in my 05 350 cc 6.0. The dealers and parts guys don't know diddly you have to do your own research.

I don't know about the part #'s but there is definitely a Ford alarm that will work with the keyless entry remotes. I have it on my 05 F350. Dealer does not know because they don't deal with it much, it is something the finance guy throws at you at the end when you sign the paperwork. Just like the extended warrantee or the leather protector. I think they tried to get $550 for it but I refused to pay that much. I finely got it for $250. Then I had to bring the truck back in for half a day so they could install it. It works well but it is just a noise maker when someone enters the truck or slams the tailgate. No vehicle disabling features of any kind though.

I wonder how many people understand that the Advanced Security Group (ASG) in their vehicle actually has nothing to do with the vehicles security? Until Mikejski started this thread I really had no idea that the ASG was only a keyless entry/dome light switch/panic button. After carefully reading my owners manual I now realize that Ford's idea of an "anti-theft system" as they list it in the Table of Contents in the Owners Guide is nothing more than giving the owner the ability to lock the doors with a remote transmitter. Thanks Mikejski. Maybe the moderators should add this to the tech folders or use it as part of their welcoming post's.

I have been looking at the ordering guide for the '05's looking at a new truck, I think I am going to skip that option, it doesn't get you anything, the keypad looks horrible. For the money I can get a remote start-keyless entry-alarm.
