I have an '05 Supercrew XLT. It has the standard body-color frame around the grille with the black honeycomb grille.
I'm wondering if it's possible to switch the grille out for a "black bar type" like the FX4 and STX have (same one on those two models?). Is it a straight swap? Unbolt old and install new? Can I re-use my body-color frame?
If it can be done, does anyone have one they want to sell? Someone that replaced with a billet grille maybe?
It's very easy to do. Unbolt old and install new grille. The trim and the grille are separate pieces. You can swap the black honey comb grille for the black bar style grille. It's a straight swap. The colored trim piece snaps off and on, and can be reused on the new grille. You can find a used but like new bar style grille on eBay. Just search for fx4 grille or fx4 grill.
I wish you didn't live so far away...I'd swap you now. I like the honeycomb better. I might just pick up one of the Harley grilles though. I'd be willing to send you mine if you wanted it (for shipping costs), but I'm not sure yet about getting the new one....
