My engine blew in my 00 F-150 looking to get a new engine wanted to know what my options are. Looking for more power and have about a 5000 budget.
Looked into rebuilding my current motor and getting it ported and polished new cam and injectors but don't know what to expect performance wise. Need Help
Why not try going to the 5.4. Then you could port and polish that for even more hp.
Should pretty much drop in with a change to the puter. (Puter from a 5.4) That is if you are doing the entire engine. I am not sure but I don't think the fuel rail is the same.
If you are going to stick with the 4.6, have the shop that builds it bore out the cylinders and install a stepped up cam. Then you can do the air intake mods and exhaust mods. Should give you quite a change in performance.

I thought about the 5.4 I can't find a mechanic in the area to take on a project like this and I know nothing about motors and don't want to get in over my head. Hard to believe I have 5500 cash and nobody wants to work with me.
When I had my Bronco, I replaced the motor and went from a 302 to a 351 bored 30 over with performance cam. I did a long block swap with a few other parts and it cost me a total of $4000. You may be able to call them and see who they work with cause the warranty was nationwide when I got mine done. They may have someone close to you.

the 5.4 won't work without some other add ons. you need new harness fuel rail, ecm, pcm, exhaust and engine mounts, radiator. i cam swap on a 4.6 runs 550.00 for the parts. just drop in a reman stock engine
