Deactivate clutch sensor

Got a 1988 Ford XLT Lariat. The clutch sensor to allow the truck to start has become a real problem.

Is there a way to quickly deactivate this?

You might want to check before you deactivate it. I don't know about the F series, but the Mustangs use that switch for control on the manual transmission models. When you step on the clutch, and/or the tranny is in neutral, the idle speed is decreased to conserve fuel, prevent overrun. When the tranny is in gear and/or the clutch is engaged, the idle is increased to overcome the drag of the tranny.

remove the switch and leave the plunger in while it is plugged into the harness and tape it up out of the way.

You may also have issues starting the truck without it, since the clutch switch is typically in the started control circuit.

you could just jump it with a wire, unplug it, and run a jumper wire across it, just dont leave it in gear and start it withough pushing in the clutch! im pretty sure its just a starter safety nothing more.
