Can anyone think of a reason as to why my wipers only work on the slower setting all of a sudden? When I click to the faster setting, they just keep going at the slow rate.
I thought so too. Here's an update: I drove around for an hour (it's 3 degrees here) and the fast setting was just noticeably faster than the slow setting. (Just barely faster, but it's an improvement.) Is there a way to lube the wiper arms' bearings? I had an old Dodge where the passenger side froze up, so I disconnected it and drove with just the driver wiper for a while. Does the wiper switch control speed, or is there something on the wiper motor?
I've lubed these things before on other vehicles. Just look up under the dash and take a can of something like WD-40 and spray all the joints for the moving parts. I don't like WD-40 because it's a petroleum product and attracts dirt. I buy this Remington gun lube from Wal mart because it's a synthetic, quick-drying lube that doesn't attract dirt.
try checking the wire connections from the switch to the power supply, and to the wiper motor. it might just be because its so cold that you have resistance in them
Thanks for those quick replies. I've got some white lithium spray lube that I've been wanting to try, maybe that will do the trick. I'm not too concerned about the fast setting just yet; it's gonna be a while until we have torrential downpours (rain) here again. I've got my old '70 that I can pull the wiper switch if need be. Thanks again.
