What is the right way to prime a new fuel filter on a 91 F250 7.3. Someone told me just turn to turn it over and over until it fires, seems like that will take a long time. Also where is the gp controller? Thanks
Just fill the filter up with fresh diesel before installing it. It's best to do it, saves a lot of wear on your starter.
GP controller is on the top/rear of the block, behind the intake right before the bell housing.
I use automatic tranmission fluid to prime my filter . Less of a chance of contaminating the system . Pump remanufactures say not to fill with diesel because the diesel is not filtered before going to the pump .
Fill the filter with clean diesel,if you fill it using the small holes and being carefull not to let it go into the big center hole(where the treads are)it will be filtered.Pita i know but it will be filtered.

WOW, can you REALLY use the automatic trans, ission oil to prime the filter. I to am new to the diesel scene. I am fixing to change the oil and filter and clean that thing on the back of the intake. I was kinda wondering about the fuel filter
Since I have changed the stock lift pump with a Facet electrical pump,no more problems on filter priming, I just turn the key to the first position, not "start",the pump goes into action and I simply press the schrader valve until the fuel starts flowing, simple as that!

Before I had the Facet pump I would prime it by turning it over with the starter, didn't take too long either, about 2x5 seconds with a small wait time between crankings.
