I have a 1992 f150 witht he push button 4wd. I have read alot of post on this problem and have not found one thats doing what mine is. Most of the post say they here a click when tring to engage the 4wd. I dont here any thing no lights light up i get nothing. Ive checked to make sure im getting power to the switch and I even getting power through the switch any one have any ideas phil
First check all your connections underneath the truck going to the transfer case. I believe that harness comes through the cab floor on the drivers side. If that's not the case, you may have a problem with the shift motor on the transfer case.
I have same problem. found out to be a reset button on right side of truck inside behind kick plate (plastic)right where you put your feet.Renove that panel and you will find a circut box with all kinds of elec.plugs in it.On mine all i do is push the white reset button and a red light comes on next to button. Then my push button 4 whl.drive works....Till next year...Same thing each year. Not very tech.but i hope this helps
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. A question for any of the shoppies who are mechanically inclined AND have access to a 1992-97 Ford F150 4x4 with the push button transfer case. I need to know about the three wires that come out of the transfer case. I understand they are for the speed sensor. One is brown and goes to the center pin of the 10 pin round plug, the other two are blue and green, but I don't know how they are positioned on the plug, which one is 12 o'clock and which is 1 o'clock? I bought a new motor and have to re-use those 3 wires, but when I was putting them in I dropped the whole setup and everything flew. I know they only go in 2 ways but don't really want to screw up an $80 motor if I'm wrong. I checked with the Chiltons I have access to but there was no wireing diagram showing this motor. I have thought about matching it to another "motor" but I don't have access to another Ford, and I have given thought to flagging down a passing Ford and asking if I can crawl under it and check his wireing. Can anyone help ?
i took the 4wd motor out of an explorer once, took the motor apart, and cleaned up the brushes and slip ring put back together, and seemed to work fine, cant remember exactly what wire was what but fed power and had it working in the bench
starting at the bottom in a clock wise rotation looking at the plug fron the front brown in the center white - brown/white -orange/white-yellow/white-orange-yellow-light green-light blue-violet and then you should be back to the white if you wnant me to i can email you the wiring diagam for the plug i have hope this helps phil
Thank you so much ! I found "some" info everywere and a diagram of the wires from eBay shop chat, everything except the position of the green and blue wires which is what I needed ! Thank you again.
