I was taking the advice of some of the smart people here..(which i really do appreciate) and going to replace my TPS.. only one problem.. the two screws that hold it in .. will not budge.. i turned a 10 minute job .. into 1 hr and 1/2 of pure frusteration.. and still didn't get the sensor replaced. does anyone have any tricks to getting screws out.?? thanks
I am afraid i stripped them out.. i used some plyers to try to get them loose and i got one.. to move.. but not very much.. maybe they were frozen.. it was 13 degree's outside...
I know this will sound stupid, but put talcum powder on your phillips screwdriver end. It makes it bite and hold. Valve grind compound works the best though.
try the pb blaster and if you can get behind them...tap with small hammer or 1/4" drive ratchet to loosen the corrosion up and glop on more blaster to lift crud out....good luck!
yeah.. thanks for the suggestions. i am afraid that i am beyond the point of screwdriver.. i mean.. the screws. are shot.. i am unable to get to the back of the screw.. this is the TPS so the screws are internal.. i think i am just SOL!
When things are locktited try alittle heat gun to warm the the screw up alittle first.
We run into this alot repair snowmobiles. It seems to soften the locktite.

I have used these before and they work just fine. You need to get the drill hole centered properly and use the correct size bit/easy-out. I find them more difficult to use on smaller screws than larger bolts (less material to work with). A good set of these is not cheap as they are super-hardened steel.
I use a T-bar from my tap and die set to twist the easy-outs so I get even torque around the stripped bolt/screw.
Hey i was able to get the screws out.. replaced the TPS .. and SO far my trans is perfect.. the noise and hard shift from 3-2 is gone.. thanks everyone! $23.00 and 2 hr but it was WORTH it.
I was able to get one screw loose with pliers. took about 30 minutes .. i had to move it about 1/4 of a turn each time. but once i got one screw lose. i drilled the top of the screw out and was able to pull the sensor over the rest of the screw.. then since there was about 1/2 inch of screw left. i gentle unscrewed it with the pliers.. and replaced the sensor and bolts..and took her for a test drive..
